Toshiba has launched a new budget-friendly Windows Tablet, the Toshiba Encore 2, which will become available in the US in July. As for Europe, we can expect to see it in Q3 2014.
The company will also launch a 10.1in version of the 8in Encore 2. Both of these will come with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, an Intel Atom processor, 32GB of built-in storage, expandable via a microSD card (up to 128GB). The 8in device will have 1GB of RAM, the 10in model 2GB.
The Encore 2 tablets will sport front and rear-facing cameras – the one in the front will be a 1.2-megapixel camera, the one in the back a 5-megapixel one. The tablets will run Windows 8.1 and users will get a free one-year subscription to Office 360. What’s even more interesting is that these devices will come with Bing as their default search engine.
The prices are yet to be officially announced, but we can expect the 8in tablet to cost $199 (roughly 150 euros), while the 10in will be available at the price of $269 (roughly 200 euros).
