Amazon has officially unveiled its first smartphone today, called the Fire Phone.

Amazon’s phone offers the unique 3D UI dubbed Dynamic Perspective, which changes what’s depicted on the phone’s screen depending on where you are in relation to the phone. The phone does this by tracking your eyes with special cameras found in the front corners of the smartphone. Another interesting feature comes in the form of tilt gestures that allow you to perform tasks on your phone by simply moving it. You tilt you device to scroll inside the browser or e-books, even games.
All those leaked specs turned out to be true in the end and so, the Fire Phone comes with a 4.7in IPS screen (resolution 1280 x 720 pixels), a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM. On its back is a 13-megapixel camera with a five-element lens and OIS, and Amazon decided to give its users free unlimited photo storage in its Cloud Drive. The Fire Phone supports 4G LTE and runs Fire OS 3.5, the same operating system used on the Kindle Fire tablets. You can get the Fire Phone with either 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage.
Dynamic Perspective UI
In terms of content, Amazon has gone all out – movies, TV shows, music, books, newspapers – everything’s available to you right there on Amazon. But that’s not all! The company has thrown in two exclusive features called Firefly and Mayday, respectively. The former uses the phone’s camera or microphone to recognize things around you and find them in its database. For example, point the camera at a book and it’ll get recognized. Amazon will then offer you the option to purchase it. The latter gets you 24/7 remote support for any task you’d like to perform on your Fire Phone.
The Fire Phone is available in the US only at the moment, but should become available in other parts of the world soon enough. The price: $649 (no contract).
